You have to buy Bondo, fiberglass and resin to fill the gap. You can remove the cover screws and remove the LCD, but you can sand Bondo accurate and up to perfection. So .. while the lid is removed .. When you make a new painting on layers of paint and a few decent throw clear on this point.
